The Maternal and Child Health Bureau strengthens public health systems to meet the needs of America’s mothers, children, and their families.   Kentucky has one of the highest rates of child abuse and neglect in the country, so it is important that we equip families and other caregivers with every resource available to ensure the health and well-being of their children.   In Woodford County, we are determined to optimize health outcomes by building relationships, improving health literacy, increasing protective factors, and diminishing risk factors, one family at a time.​

Kentucky is a mandatory reporting state. If you suspect abuse or neglect of a child, you are required by law to make a report. You can:

Remember the TEN-4 bruising rule:   Children under the age of four should not have bruising to their Torso, Ears, or Neck. Non-mobile infants should NOT have any bruises.
