The Woodford County Health Department is accepting applications for contractual employment for a full time Health Educator/Prevention Specialist-Personal Services Contract position.
General Duties include:

Collaborate with schools to educate students, faculty and families about physical, mental, and social health

Speak at parent cafes and other community events about a variety of health topics

Foster relationships with community partners to support and bolster health education

Craft materials (presentations, flyers, handouts, etc.) to spread health information and advertise WCHD services

Perform a leading role in the Youth Engagement Project

Help organize community coalitions in Prevention activities

Develop and/or implement programs for identified at-risk populations according to risk and protective factors

Act as a supplemental educator for health-related topics in schools. This position would serve as a resource ready to assist the schools as needed, by participating or providing guidance/consultation on campaigns (like for Sources of Strength).

Provide resources, information, and education on a variety of health topics for youth, adults, and families. Ex. parent cafes, lunch and learns, handouts social media posts, puberty, health hygiene and social health (friendships, family)

Develop resources for a variety of at-risk populations such as LGBTQ+, BIPOC, low SES, and others

Research and identify new sources of funding and grant opportunities

Represent Health Department at health fair opportunities and other community events

Assists with community health assessment and community health improvement plan to be completed every 3 – 5 years

Serve as School Community Health Education Coordinator and provides health education prevention programs/activities in the schools and to the general public.
Minimum Education, Training or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in the field of public health, health and human services, public safety or other related field that may be applicable. Must have 1 year of health, human services, or public safety experience. Substitution: Master's degree will substitute for 1 year of the required experience. A professional license in the health or human service field will substitute for an additional year of experience.

Salary: $30/hour – Agency Benefits provided.
